GETTING STARTED GUIDE
Everything a new player needs in their first session.
First Steps
When you first join Grow a Garden 2, you spawn in the circular map center. Walk to Sam (Seed Shop NPC) and buy your first seeds. Carrot (1 Sheckle) and Strawberry (10 Sheckles) are the best starter seeds — cheap, fast, and almost always in stock.
The seed shop restocks every 4–5 minutes. Check the Live Stock Tracker to see what Sam currently has available.
Your Garden Plot
Each player gets a garden plot with limited tiles. Click an empty tile, select a seed from your inventory, and plant it. Crops grow in real time — even while you're offline. Return when the growth timer finishes to harvest.
Different crops have different harvest types: Single-harvest crops are gone after one harvest, while Multi-harvest crops produce multiple times from one seed — more value per seed. See the full crop database for details.
Making Money
Harvested crops can be sold to Steven at the Sell Stand in the map center. Payout depends on crop weight, rarity, and active mutations. Higher-rarity crops sell for dramatically more — a Mythic crop can earn millions while Common crops earn thousands.
Use the Crop Value Calculator to estimate your harvest payout. Check crop values & prices for the full price list.
Quick income tips:
- Start with multi-harvest crops (Strawberry, Blueberry) for steady income
- Upgrade to Rare seeds (Corn, Pineapple) once you have capital
- Watch for mutation-triggering weather events to multiply your harvests
Surviving the Night
At night, other players can steal crops from your garden. Protect yourself with:
- Defense Plants: Venus Flytrap (Mythic, 7M) eats intruders on contact
- Defender Pets: Bee (Legendary) and Black Dragon (Super) attack thieves
- Defense Crates: Bear Trap, Fence, and Owner Door create barriers
See the Defense Guide for a full protection strategy. If you want to attack others, read the Stealing Guide.
